Which car should I use to take my category B driving test at WORD: the WORD car or the car of a driving school in Warsaw.

One sunny day, Kryspin, a doctor of law, crossed the threshold of a driving school in Warsaw. He was another dream student for the OSK from the capital: educated, intelligent, knowing what he wanted from life. In the end, it turned out that his adventure with a driving license lasted 3 years…

First he took a course, and after a year refresher lessons, and then he took the exams, which he initially took in WORD cars. On his first attempt at the WORD exam, his car stalled on a bend, and on the second attempt it stalled again.

Although it was already swept, the examiner allowed him to do the hill, which is more difficult to pass than the curve. He approached this maneuver in a relaxed way, because the exam stress that paralyzed him was gone. It should come as no surprise that he conquered the hill without the slightest problem…

Kryspin understood that stress was eating him up. He came to the conclusion that he needed support in the WORD exam. That is why he asked the head of OSK for help. The next exam took place with his participation.

What was the effect? And did Kryspin decide to take the exam in the school car? More on that in a moment. First, let’s answer the question: „Which car should I use to take the exam for category B in WORD?”

Which car should I use to take a category B course at a driving school in Warsaw?

In order to answer the above question, we will use an example from our OSK. Namely, on the course we use a model identical to the one in Warsaw’s WORD, i.e. Hyundai I20 (1.2 petrol).

In addition, we train in a car with an automatic transmission, namely the Toyota CHR. This is a model equipped with front and rear parking sensors, a reversing camera, a blind spot detection sensor, and even an automatic parking brake.

So which car should I use to take a category B course in Warsaw?

  • If we plan to take the exam in a WORD car, it is worth choosing the same model at OSK as the one in WORD.
  • If we intend to take the exam in an OSK car, the school will provide us with the same car at WORD in which we will take the course with them.
  • If we do not yet know which car we will take the exam in, let’s choose the one on the course that the school will be able to provide us with and which at the same time corresponds to the one in WORD.

As we mentioned earlier, the Provincial Road Traffic Centre has second-generation Hyundai I20 cars with a 5-speed manual gearbox. This year, the cars in the WORD should be replaced. There is talk behind the scenes that they will be replaced by a third-generation Hyundai, i.e. a car very similar to the current one, with an identical engine and also with a manual gearbox.

In our school we have vehicles identical to those in the exam, which have passed verification and met official requirements. That is why we are able to provide them to the student in WORD.

What requirements must a car provided by OSK for the exam meet?

  • It is equipped with cameras required by WORD.
  • The operation of these cameras has been verified by WORD.
  • It is checked for lighting, equipment and documents before each exam.
  • If a machine is provided, it does not need to have additional cameras because the examiner uses his own camera.

Can you take the exam at WORD in your own private car?

Unfortunately, there is currently no such possibility. We take the exam in an OSK car, where we did the B category course. This vehicle must be owned by a driving school. As we know, Poles can do it, so theoretically there is a possibility to bypass the system. Namely, you just need to rent your car to a driving school. However, there is a „but” here, and it is a significant one. The point is that such a car must be equipped with additional pedals and mirrors. It must also be inspected for driving lessons. The total cost is at least PLN 2,000, if not more. As you can easily guess, it is difficult to sell such a car later…

So what formalities must a student complete to pass the OSK by car? All the student has to do is go to the WORD website , where there is a special form link: https://www.word.waw.pl/egzaminy/egzamin-na-prawo-jazdy/egzamin-pojazdem-osk. One side of it is for the OSK, and the other for the student. If the student is a student of a given school, all they have to do is fill out this form and accept the regulations…

Summary: which car to take the category B exam in: a WORD car or a driving school from Warsaw?

Let’s go back to the story from the first paragraph. Kryspin asked for help from the head of the OSK, who — as a „mute witness” — joined the exam. As if by magic, two attempts on the curve turned out to be successful. Although the car didn’t stall, Kryspin still failed.

On the first attempt he didn’t turn on his dipped headlights, and it was raining, so he should have. On the second attempt he didn’t watch the trajectory in the rear window. The examiner allowed him to go over the hill, which, as usual, went without a problem.

Then the OSK chief suggested that Kryspin should take the next three attempts – if they were to happen – in an OSK car with manual transmission. The student agreed to this. Thanks to this, he finally left the square, but he failed in the city, because at the first intersection he forced the right of way when changing lanes. He explained that he did not know that he should have given way. He was simply lost in his rush, because he wanted to do it as quickly as possible.

To everyone’s great surprise, including Kryspin, another OSK car exam ended successfully. Kryspin was more shocked than the OSK boss. The young driver additionally bought automatic driving lessons at his driving school „Lauto” from Warsaw , which turned out to be great fun for him and an impulse to buy this type of car…
