How to quickly register for a practical driving test at WORD? The Lauto driving school in Warsaw answers questions from category B students.

At Lauto Driving School in Warsaw, we often hear the question, „How quickly can I register for my practical driving test at WORD?” This is justified, as some students wait 5 to 6 weeks for their exam. Definitely too long if someone urgently needs their license…

Is there a chance to change this? Absolutely! We have four patents for this. But before we get to them, let’s tell the story of one student.

Kevin needed his driving license yesterday because he was starting a new job. He couldn’t wait the six weeks offered by the Warsaw Driving School. He decided to look for an exam center outside of Warsaw.

So the boy went to Grójec, where he took his category B driving test. He was confident of his success behind the wheel, so he greeted the local examiner with a smile on his face.

The examiner looked at his ID card and replied:

— Are you a smartass from Warsaw?

– I’m listening?

— Do you think you’ll pass here without any problems?

The examiner burst into loud laughter.

Did the student manage to pass the exam at the local WORD? Before we answer that question, let’s learn four ways to speed up the Category B exam…

First, we can change the city where we test. A driving school in Warsaw shows you how to change your driving license.

As we mentioned in the above story, we can change the city where we want to take the exam.

exam. This can be done online — we have WORD offices available throughout Poland, except Łomża, where registration must be done in person.

How to change the city where you take the exam?

  • If you’re registering for the exam for the first time, there’s no problem. You can use the Info-Car website to check available dates, select a WORD, and then register for the exam.
  • However, if you’ve already registered for a driving test in Warsaw or another city, you must first unblock your driver profile, which is locked in WORD for six months. If you need your profile unlocked quickly, you can visit our driving test center in person or send an email requesting this. Your profile should be unlocked within three days.
  • If we really want to take the exam in Łomża, we need to use the help of the local driving school, which we will commission to complete this formality on our behalf.

Secondly, we can submit an application to expedite the deadline. A driving school in Warsaw explains how to expedite the practical driving test at the capital’s driving school.

The second way to get an exam faster is to write an application to WORD to expedite the category B exam date. It is worth submitting it in person at the chosen examination center – on Odlewnicza or Bemowo – in Warsaw.

How do I properly submit an application to expedite my exam date?

  • We should justify our request by providing a genuine and compelling reason. For example, we could state that we urgently need a work license, are changing our city of residence, are going to college, or are traveling abroad.
  • Of course, our application will end up in the application pile. So, if we want it to stand out and be considered, let’s state that we’re happy with any date and time suggested by WORD.
  • It’s worth mentioning when an exam date becomes available at WORD. Every student has the right to cancel their scheduled exam two days in advance, free of charge. Many take advantage of this opportunity. This provides an opportunity for us to get a quick date.
  • When a student cancels their appointment, WORD looks for someone to take their place. Then, like a bolt from the blue, we’re hit with an offer of an exam in 3, 4, or 5 days. So, when a nice lady calls with such an offer, never say „No,” unless you want them to never call you back. Typically, the average wait for such a call is 2 weeks.

Third, we can use free apps. A driving school in Warsaw suggests which ones are worth using.

If you want to take the exam in Warsaw, it’s worth using apps that allow you to quickly schedule your exam in WORD. They’re also a good choice when looking for an exam center outside the capital.

What is worth knowing about these apps?

  • There are currently about 10 worthwhile apps on the market that can help you quickly register for your WORD exam. These include Szybka Prawko (Fast Driving License) and Złap Termin (Catch the Term).
  • These applications have a free version that refreshes every 15 minutes. This is when we receive notification that a free exam date has appeared on the Info-Car portal in our chosen WORD format. However, the difficulty here is that many people sit at their computers waiting for the notification about a free date and then manually click on it.
  • So, if you want to increase your chances of getting there before other students, it’s worth using paid apps like Szybki Egzamin (Fast Exam). These apps refresh every 1-2 minutes and cost 15-20 PLN. However, the problem of other students chatting on their computers to get ahead of others is a recurring problem, so you might not be able to register in time even if you purchase such an app.

Fourth, we can use the best paid app. A driving school from Warsaw explains why it’s worth choosing Szybka-jazda.pl.

So, if you want to be sure you’ll be able to register for your driving test quickly, it’s worth using the Szybka Jazda app . Here, you can be sure no one will beat you to it, as the application’s response time is limited to 0.3 seconds.

How does this app work?

  • First, we register on its website, where we select a specific WORD and the type of exam, i.e. in our case, category B.
  • Secondly, we provide our data and pay for this service in the amount of PLN 120.
  • Thirdly, we receive information about a free date within 1-2 days, which will most likely be in 3-6 days.
  • Fourth, we must pay for our scheduled exam within 30 minutes if we don’t want to lose it. We need to be especially vigilant between 7:00 and 9:00 a.m., as that’s when appointments usually become available.
  • Fifthly, if the application does not find a free date within 3 days, we can suspend its operation and recover the paid money (the refund will be made within 5 to 14 days).

Summary: A driving school from Warsaw explains how to quickly register for a practical driving test at WORD.

Let’s return to Kvin story from the first paragraph. The boy tensed up so much at the examiner’s words that his legs began to shake as if they were jelly. That’s why his car stalled twice on a hill, causing him to fail the test.

At the urging of the head of the „Lauto” driving school in Warsaw, Kevin used the Szybka Jazda app. Thanks to it, he took his category B driving test at the capital’s WORD (Warsaw Regional Office) that same week, passing without a problem.

How much does an hour of refresher driving cost? The Lauto driving school in Warsaw explains the rates applicable in the capital.

The phone rang at the driving school in Warsaw.

„Hello, I’m Ajay from India and I’d like to sign up for driving refresher training,” a voice said in English. „But I have a problem…”

“What is the problem?” the center director asked in English.

— Firstly, in India there is left-hand traffic, just like in Great Britain, and secondly, I have to do these trips this week because I start working as a taxi driver next week.

— I don’t see a problem here. We can start riding tomorrow.

— But there is a third problem…

– What?

— I’ll tell you when we meet…

What was the third problem? More on that in a moment. First, let’s understand how much an hour’s drive in the capital costs.

  1. What are refresher driving courses? A driving school in Warsaw provides a definition.

Refresher driving lessons are lessons following the basic course, which includes 30 hours of driving. Therefore, once you complete this course and pass the internal exam at the OSK, you will be eligible to take refresher driving lessons, or the supplementary course.

For example, at our „Lauto” driving school, refresher driving courses follow the exam routes. We know these routes because we bring our own cars to the exam at WORD and then use their GPS to track the entire route the car traveled during the exam.

Our students have the choice of taking the exam in either a manual or automatic car. Before the exam, they typically purchase an additional hour in a car of their choice from our driving school, which will then be provided for the exam. During this time, they practice cornering, hill-driving, intersections, and parking. They then take the driving test in the same car at the driving school.

If they choose a manual, they have a manual Hyundai available, which costs 320 PLN to rent for the exam (this price includes an hour of driving before the exam). The second option is an automatic, which costs 290 PLN just for the rental, and an additional hour must be purchased.

  1. Who can benefit from refresher driving lessons? A driving school in Warsaw explains how these lessons should be conducted.

Let’s start with who can’t take advantage of these rides. Students who haven’t completed the basic course are definitely not eligible. They must first complete the course and pass the exam at their local driving school, and only then can they purchase the appropriate number of refresher rides at any driving school.

Who can benefit from refresher driving?

  • First, there are students who have completed the course. This refers to those who have completed 30 hours of the basic course and passed the internal exam at their driving school.
  • Secondly, drivers with a driving license who want to improve their driving skills. It’s worth noting that in this case, we’re talking about observational driving lessons, not refresher driving lessons. These are often purchased by drivers who have lost their license due to points.

How should refresher driving lessons be conducted to be effective? They should be systematic, meaning once or twice a week, not rushed just before the exam. Knowledge is absorbed better when learning is spread out over time than when daily driving lessons are booked at the last minute. Then, fatigue from work and stress increase mistakes and hinder efficient learning. Unless you take time off and take refresher driving lessons during that time, then you can actually drive every day, which won’t disrupt the learning process.

One more thing worth noting: during the basic driving course, we are assigned to a single school. If we want to change schools, this involves obtaining driving licenses and changing schools. We’ve already written about how to change driving licenses in this article . The situation is different with refresher driving courses. Here, we aren’t assigned to a specific school that locks our driver profile, so we have the freedom to choose even several schools at once.

  1. Can an instructor force you to purchase refresher driving lessons? A driving school in Warsaw explains what privileges an instructor has.

Of course, the instructor can’t force you to purchase additional driving lessons. However, if a student fails their internal driving test, the instructor may offer additional paid driving lessons of 2, 5, 6, or 10 hours. These lessons are designed to teach safe driving and prepare for the exam.

Of course, the student could refuse this remedial plan and withdraw their documents and transfer to another school. But the fundamental question is: is this the right thing to do from a safety perspective? It could end in a dramatic way, as in this video .

  1. How many additional driving lessons should you buy for your basic driving course? A driving school in Warsaw explains how it works in practice.

Purchasing additional driving lessons is a matter of personal preference. It depends on both the student’s individual predispositions and their level of dedication during the course. Virtually no student is 100% prepared for the exam. Typically, most drivers are 60% ready after completing additional driving lessons, while experienced drivers would be 80% ready. During our experience, we’ve noticed that students fall into three groups in this regard.

How many refresher courses do students buy?

  • 20% of students do not purchase more hours beyond the basic course, which is 30 clock hours of driving.
  • 50% of students purchase up to 10 hours of additional driving.
  • 30% of students purchase up to 30 hours of additional driving lessons.
  1. When is it worth investing in additional driving lessons? A driving school in Warsaw tells you when it’s worth investing in extra hours on the road.

If you pass 80% of your exam and fail, you may not need to purchase additional driving lessons, but simply re-schedule your exam. However, there are several reasons why purchasing additional driving lessons is worthwhile.

When is it worth purchasing refresher driving lessons?

  • Firstly, when we feel insecure behind the wheel.
  • Secondly, if we fail in WORD, for example, we will only complete 20% of the exam or 20 minutes of driving out of 40 minutes.
  • Thirdly, when the instructor or examiner suggests it to us.
  1. What determines the price of refresher driving lessons? Warsaw driving schools list the factors that influence their rates.

There are several key factors that influence the price per hour of a course.

What determines the price per hour of additional driving?

  • Firstly, it depends on whether we drive a manual or automatic transmission.
  • Secondly, it depends on whether we travel on the weekend, when it is more expensive, or during the week.
  • Thirdly, it depends on how many hours we buy: usually, the more, the cheaper it will be.
  • Fourthly, whether we buy the basic course package with additional hours: then it will be the cheapest.
  • Fifthly, depending on our level of negotiation skills: it can always be cheaper.
  • Sixthly, on the skills and experience of the instructor.
  1. How much does an hour of driving refresher training cost? A driving school in Warsaw tells you how much you’ll pay in the capital.

In the capital, you’ll find a wide range of prices. Typically, one hour will cost between 140 and 200 PLN. However, if you purchase a 10-hour package and pay cash upfront, you can negotiate up to 125 PLN per hour on the road in some locations.

How did the story of the student from India end?

The next day, the head of the driving school from Warsaw met with a student from India.

“Please tell me what the third problem is,” said the head of OSK.

– Well, – replied the Indian – I have only spent half an hour in a car in my life…

— How much?! So how on earth did you get your license there?

Laughter rang out.

— Well, you know how…

„OK, I understand. If you want to buy refresher driving lessons from me, you have to agree to my terms. We’ll drive for as many hours as I deem appropriate. The point is, if you’re going to be a taxi driver, I need to be sure you’ll drive safely and that none of your passengers will be hurt…”

The Indian agreed to this condition. And so, the refresher driving courses at the „Lauto” driving school in Warsaw lasted 50 hours, during which Ajay learned to drive safely on Polish roads.

Where is the easiest place to get your category B driving license? A driving school in Warsaw publishes pass rates for driving tests across Poland.

Janek didn’t look for a driving school in Warsaw because he didn’t trust his driving skills and was determined to pass his category B driving test on his first try. What was the reason for this determination? His older sister, Małgosia, had passed hers on her first attempt, and he—as a male—couldn’t be worse.

Since he didn’t believe he could replicate his sister’s success in the capital, he decided to find a WORD somewhere in Poland. He scoured the internet for WORD pass rates from previous years and selected those centers with the highest first-time pass rates.

And so he found five WORD ranking lists from across Poland. Based on these, he selected the city that—in his opinion—offered the best chance of a great exam result. It’s worth noting that Janek wasn’t looking for rankings that measured the pass rate for the theory exam. He knew perfectly well that the same exam questions and procedures apply throughout Poland, so the theory exams are almost identical in every city.

There are significant discrepancies between the WORDs on the practical exam. These differences stem from urban planning, traffic congestion, examiner attitudes, and the vehicles used during the exam. Janek first selected the best cities for taking the WORD exam. Then, in those cities, he found driving schools offering category B training. Finally, he found an excellent offer from the local driving school.

It was a driving holiday. All you had to do was pass your theory exam in your hometown, then go on a two-week vacation to take a driving course. At the end of your stay in that town, you took the practical exam at the local driving school.

While this sounded unbelievable, it turned out to be the absolute truth. Without hesitation, Janek began self-studying the theory at home and took the exam at the Warsaw Driving School. After passing, he embarked on an unforgettable vacation with his license in the countryside.

Did he manage to get his license on the first try? More on that in a moment. First, let’s answer the question: what was the pass rate for practical driving exams in recent years across Poland, and in which driving schools did the most students pass on the first try?

Did Janek pass on his first try? Of course he did! Did Janek learn to drive in Warsaw thanks to this? Of course not…

Well, right after Janek returned from vacation with his license in his pocket, he bought his first car and soon hit the road. However, Warsaw proved more demanding than the town where he took his driving course and passed his driving test, so the boy panicked.

The speed, traffic jams, and road rage—all of this meant the young driver couldn’t continue. He pulled over to a bus stop and activated his hazard lights. He then called his sister to pick him up.

He was lucky that Małgosia had some free time. She showed up in less than an hour. She arrived by public bus, and as she sat behind the wheel, with Janek next to her in the passenger seat, she gave him a shout-out…

„Didn’t I tell you to get your license in Warsaw!? No, you had to show that you’re a real badass and that you’d pass on the first try, no matter what! Not only did you pay for the course and hotel stay in this town as much as you would have for a driving license at a driving school in the capital, but they also ripped you off on the hours because you drove less than the legal limit. Apparently, the local driving schools had an arrangement with their driving school, because you took your exam right after the accelerated training. And if that wasn’t enough, they didn’t teach you how to drive in our city. I knew it would end this way… I guess I deserve an apology, huh?”

— I don’t know what I should apologize to you for…

„What do you mean, what for? Mainly for refusing to listen to your smarter sister, and for having me come pick you up. If you don’t apologize, you’re going home by bus…”

He hesitated for a moment, but convenience won out over the desire for adventure with public transport.

— Okay… Sorry!

— Now call Mr. Konrad from the „Lauto” driving school in Warsaw and arrange a refresher driving course so that you can learn how to drive safely on Polish roads and in our city…

What to do if you fail your Category B driving test at the WORD? The Lauto driving school in Warsaw explains what to do after a failed driving test.
New Suzuki Swift 2025 Driving School Warsaw

None of her friends expected Kinga to pass on her first attempt after starting her driving course at a Warsaw driving school. Her friends were right: she was undoubtedly exceptionally talented, but not in the automotive field…

The girl confused the gas pedal with the brake and shifted gears as effortlessly as if she were driving a tractor. So when she took her category B driving test at the WORD, stress took its toll, and her car stalled twice on hills, meaning she failed the test.

Immediately after the exam, she made an appointment with the head of the OSK, where she was taking the course, to take the next steps. What were those steps? More on that in a moment…

Step one: re-register for your driving test at WORD. A driving school in Warsaw offers tips on how to book your next driving test.

Currently, the waiting time for the Category B exam in Warsaw can be up to a month and a half. Therefore, there’s no point in delaying your next exam, as you’ll still have time to prepare.

How do I register for another WORD exam?

  • First, you can do this in person at the WORD customer service desk, even ten minutes after failing the practical exam, when the examiner enters this information into the system. Payment can be made either by bank transfer to the exam location’s account (a separate account is maintained for Odlewnicza and Bemowo) or at the customer service desk. If you choose the first option, remember not only to enter the correct account number but also to include in the transfer description the name and surname of the examinee, their PESEL number, the exam type (theory, practical, or theory plus practical), and the exam category. If you register for the exam directly at the office, you can pay by card or present proof of payment. The practical exam fee is PLN 222.
  • Secondly, you can register via the website . How do you do this? Simply click this link to complete the registration process step by step.

Step Two: Analyzing the Reasons for Failure. A Warsaw Driving School Explains Why Students Fail Their WORD Exam

Although there may be as many reasons for failure as there are students, we can generally distinguish five areas in which we can fail.

What are the causes of failure in WORD?

  • Stress. Although it’s difficult to eliminate completely, we can reduce it. How can we lower it? Through a healthy lifestyle, including proper sleep, healthy eating, exercise, and, above all, dedication to training, as awareness of one’s knowledge and skills can significantly reduce it…
  • Mistakes on the maneuvering yard. These can occur during three tasks. The first is preparing the car for safe driving, which we can basically learn on our own with the help of the internet. The second is corner driving, which tests the ability to drive smoothly, park, and reverse. The third is stopping the car on an incline, applying the parking brake, then releasing it and moving forward.
  • Errors while driving in the city. Generally, we are allowed to make one error during a given task. A second error will result in failing the test. However, there are some errors that immediately terminate the test, as they pose a threat to the life or health of other road users. We simply need to demonstrate our ability to drive smoothly and safely on the road.
  • The wrong driving instructor. If they were the reason for our failure, they likely weren’t dedicated to their work and need to be removed. We must remember that having fun with an instructor doesn’t mean we’ll master the curriculum. Quite the opposite is often true! A boring instructor can sometimes teach us more than a passionate teacher. If the school can’t find another instructor, it might be time to change schools…
  • An incompetent examiner. If the driving school is open until 3 p.m. and we take the exam at 2 p.m., we can expect to fail quickly. Why? Because the examiner is human too, and they’re in a hurry to get home, wanting to have some time off, so according to the regulations, they’ll fail us right there on the square to gain as much time as possible… So let’s choose the morning hours, and we’ll avoid such a quick knockout.

Step 3: Appealing the result of a failed driving test. A Warsaw driving school explains how to file a complaint against an examiner.

If, after carefully analyzing the exam, you determine that the examiner unfairly failed you, you can file a complaint. You have 14 days to do so.

How do I file a complaint against an examiner?

  • First, we can write a complaint to the supervisory body of the Regional Examination Board (WORD), the Marshal of the Mazowieckie Voivodeship. We will then have a meeting with the examiner who failed us and two officials from the Marshal’s Office. Here’s how to file a complaint about the exam .
  • Secondly, if the initial complaint fails, we can file a civil lawsuit. Of course, the case itself will likely take two years, and we’ll pass our driving test in that time, but we’ll gain the satisfaction of having done something good for humanity. Furthermore, if we win, we’ll receive a refund of our court fees and the amount of the wrongfully failed driving test.

Step 4: Refresher Training. A Warsaw driving school explains what’s worth practicing before retaking your Category B driving test.

This training is nothing less than a solution to our biggest obstacle standing in the way of our dream license. This obstacle may be different for each student.

How does supplementary training work?

  • If we failed due to our own negligence and laziness, we should have tried harder and given more of ourselves.
  • If the reason lies with the examiner, let’s change the WORD to another one in the capital or another city.
  • If the fault lies with the instructor, let’s change him or choose another OSK.
  • If we fail at the training ground, we should practice the maneuver until it’s too late. To do this, we can purchase a half-hour training ground pass at WORD (PLN 40) to better familiarize ourselves with the place.
  • If the reason for failure lies in driving in the city, let’s buy extra hours and practice the maneuver until we can do it with our eyes closed.

Summary: What to do if you fail your Category B driving test? A driving school in Warsaw offers advice on how to recover from a failure on the WORD.

To answer this question, let’s go back to the story from the first paragraph.

What four steps did Kinga take?

  • Firstly, fifteen minutes after failing the exam at WORD, she signed up for another one.
  • Secondly, she carried out a thorough analysis of the failure together with the head of OSK and together they came to the conclusion that the cause was paralyzing stress.
  • Thirdly, she decided not to write a complaint against the examiner because she did not see him as the reason for her failure.
  • Fourthly, she bought access to the WORD square and practiced the hill maneuver until she was bored.

And so, thanks to the „Lauto” driving school from Warsaw, Kinga managed to overcome stress and passed her category B driving test on the second attempt!

Which course to choose: basic, express or individual? Driving school „Lauto” from Warsaw compares these three forms of category B course

Three friends: Michał, Łukasz and John decided to take a course at a driving school in Warsaw. For this purpose, they met in a bar in the city, where they wondered whether it would be better to choose a basic course, an accelerated course (called express), or maybe an individual course. During the conversation, there was a loud exchange of words, because each of them insisted on a different option.

– The basic course will be the best! – said Michał and continued: – It guarantees optimal preparation for the exam and driving in the capital…

„You’re stupid!” said Łukasz and banged his fist on the table so much that the mugs jumped. „It’s better to take some time off from work and studies and focus on just one thing, the crash course…”

– I think – John interrupted in broken Polish – that Michał is right, but on condition that the instructor ensures an individual approach to the student… That’s why an individual course will be the best!

– Since each of us insists on his own – Łukasz continued – let’s make a bet on who will pass the WORD exam on the first attempt. To do this, let’s choose one school and do a course with the same instructors, so that we have equal chances. However, each of us will choose a different form of course. The one who passes the exam on the first attempt will win the bet and the others will have to give him the money for the course…

– Łukasz, don’t be a smart aleck – said Michał. – It’s obvious that your course will probably be the most expensive, so we’re the ones risking the most. Let’s make it so that in case of a loss, we’ll have to shoot the winner twice from the head regardless of the course price… Are you in?

Everyone nodded and raised a toast to the successful competition…

Before we answer the question of which student was the winner, i.e. which form of training was a bull’s eye, let’s compare these three forms of the course.

Who is this category B course for? The driving school from Warsaw indicates who should choose the basic, express or individual course

  • Basic course. It is intended for students who want to thoroughly complete the training from A to Z, without rushing, in order to thoroughly master the theoretical and practical knowledge on the roads. Thanks to this, they will not only pass the exam in WORD, but also learn to drive safely on Polish roads.
  • Express (accelerated) course. This is an ideal solution for people who do not have much time and – for personal or professional reasons – want to complete the training quickly. For example: someone starts a new job and urgently needs a driving license, someone else suddenly has to drive a loved one to the doctor or wants to drive to a plot of land outside the city every day…
  • Individual course. It is intended for those students who are unable to attend lectures on the dates proposed by OSK and require a personalized approach to better understand the theory, for example foreigners or people for whom road law sounds like Chinese.

How does a specific category B course work? A driving school from Warsaw explains the characteristics of a basic, express and individual course

  • Basic course. According to the regulation, each student must complete 30 hours of theory (45 minutes each) and 30 hours of practice (60 minutes each). This requirement applies to any form of course, but during the basic course, these hours are spread out over time. Theory is usually taught over two weeks during four lectures (either four days in the middle of the week or two weekends). In turn, driving lessons are held 2 or 3 times a week, usually 2 hours each. Given that it is difficult to master driving in the statutory time, some schools offer an extended version of the basic course, which immediately includes 40 hours of driving lessons.
  • Express course (accelerated). It is characterized by an intensive pace of training. For example, theory can be completed in one weekend, and driving lessons are daily, from Monday to Sunday.
  • Individual course. The specificity of this course is that only the theoretical training is individual. The practice is always individual, regardless of the form of the course. This training can take place both in a lecture room, face to face with a lecturer, and in the privacy of the student’s home in the form of traditional tutoring. Who would forbid a rich man…

How much does a given category B course cost? A driving school from Warsaw suggests the differences in the prices of three types of courses

  • Basic course. Its price is around 4000 PLN. To this you have to add additional hours of driving, if necessary, as well as additional fees for WORD exams or medical examinations.
  • Express (fast track) course. For the possibility of daily rides you will have to pay around PLN 5,400 plus additional costs.
  • Individual course. Here too, the price of the course in the basic hourly amount is approximately PLN 5,400.
  1. How long does a specific category B course take? A driving school from Warsaw explains how long it will take to complete a basic, express or individual course
  • Basic course. This training should take 4 to 8 weeks, depending on your availability.
  • Express (accelerated) course. If you have the time and a great ability to focus and absorb knowledge, you can do it in just 14 days. It is worth being careful, because some Groupon offers for an express course sell training that in practice drags on forever, lasting much longer than the basic course. In addition, courses are not equal in terms of duration. Something called an express course in one OSK lasts four weeks, which is as long as a basic course in another OSK.
  • Individual course. As with the basic version, you need to allocate 4 to 8 weeks for it.

What is the biggest disadvantage of a given course? A driving school from Warsaw assesses what are the biggest disadvantages of a basic, express and individual course

  • Basic course. Its biggest disadvantage is its duration.
  • Express course (fast track). Its biggest disadvantage is the rush that requires great concentration and increases stress, which often does not serve to solidly master driving behind the wheel.
  • Individual course. The biggest disadvantage of this training is its price, considering the fact that the theory can actually be done by yourself (without the help of a center) and for free…

What is the biggest advantage of a given course? Driving school from Warsaw explains the benefits of a basic, express and individual course

  • Basic course. Its biggest advantage is that it allows for reliable preparation for the WORD exam and for safe driving on Polish roads.
  • Express (accelerated) course. If the student focuses only on it (for example, does it during vacation) and has the right predispositions, then he can effectively complete the training in 2 weeks, not 8…
  • Individual course. Its biggest advantage is personalized theory learning, completely adapted to the natural predispositions of the student.

Summary. Which course to choose: basic, express or individual?

Now let’s return to the story in the first paragraph.

How was the course for Michał, Łukasz and John?

  • Michał chose the basic course because he was guided by common sense. He wanted to thoroughly master driving and, of course, prepare well for the WORD exam.
  • Łukasz intended to go abroad to work as a driver with a category B driving license. He was in a hurry to get it in Poland, because with our license he would be able to drive in another country for half a year, i.e. during his stay. For this purpose, he took some time off and for two weeks he pushed himself with the course.
  • John came from Great Britain and did not fully understand Polish, so he needed individual consultations in English to better grasp the theory.

Which of the friends won the bet and passed on the first try? Well, each of them passed the WORD exam on the spot, so each won the bet. As it turned out, choosing the right center was more important than the form of the course, which in this case was the „Lauto” driving school from Warsaw .

Exam routes in Warsaw.
Exam routes in Warsaw. Driving school „Lauto” publishes sample routes from WORD on Odlewnicza and Bemowo

When Wojtek signed up for a category B course at a driving school in Warsaw, he didn’t think he would experience a real horror. Namely, he took the practical exam at WORD five times. His friends got the driving license on the first, second, or maybe third attempt, and he failed exam after exam and blushed with shame in front of his friends. After many sleepless nights, he came to the conclusion that the reason for his humiliation was the WORD where he took the exam, so he started to consider taking it in another city.

A driving school from Warsaw answers the question: Where is the easiest place to pass your driving test?

Wojtek invited his friend nicknamed Pixel for a beer to get advice on which WORD outside the capital to take the exam at.

– I don’t know how much I can help you – Pixel replied – because I have data from 2023, when I took my driving test. The situation was as follows: the easiest way to pass the theory test in Poland was in Opole, where the pass rate was 71%, and the practice test in Rzeszów – there it was 51%. Here, on Odlewnicza, the pass rate for category B theory was 56%, and for practice 35%. In Bemowo, on the other hand, the pass rate for theory was 50%, and for practice 31%. In my opinion, you shouldn’t be influenced by the pass rate of a given WORD, but choose the right OSK, where you will practice the exam routes until the end and learn how to drive safely. Here are the contact details for my driving school in Warsaw, where you will have no problem getting your driving test.

Wojtek transferred to a new school, where he traveled the alleged examination routes.

A driving school from Warsaw answers the question: What was Wojtek’s exam route like from WORD on Odlewnicza?

  • After passing the WORD gate, he gave way to vehicles from the right, leaving the parking lot. Then, giving way to vehicles from the left and those turning from the right, he turned right, onto Odlewnicza.
  • At the traffic lights he turned right, onto Annopol, giving way to pedestrians. At the traffic lights on Rembielińska the left lane was for turning left, and the right lane was for going straight or right. The instructor didn’t tell us where to go, so we had to go straight…
  • He turned right onto Poborzańska, where he gave way to trams and pedestrians. Then he crossed Bolesławicka, an unmarked equal intersection, where, going straight, he gave way to vehicles from the right. A moment later, an equal intersection with Goworowska, so going straight, he again gave way to vehicles from the right. Another equal intersection on Niemeńska, which is marked with the A-5 sign.
  • At the next unmarked intersection he turned left onto Ogińskiego, giving way to vehicles from the right and those coming from the opposite direction straight on or turning right.
  • He stopped at the intersection because he had a „STOP” (B-20). Then he turned left onto Bartnicza, giving way to vehicles on the road with priority and those coming straight from the opposite direction or turning right. Then right again onto Bolesławicka, and passed the intersection of equivalent roads with Nadwiślańska, then Syrokomli, then right onto Julianowska, and right again onto Ogińskiego, from where he turned left onto the equivalent in Syrokomli.
  • Then right onto Wysockiego, then right onto Poborzańska, giving way to pedestrians and cyclists. Then, at an equal intersection, he turned onto Ogińskiego, giving way to drivers from the right and from the opposite direction who were going straight or turning right. Taking up the right-hand lane at the traffic lights, he turned right onto Bazyliańska, giving way to cyclists and pedestrians.
  • Then he turned right, from Kondratowicza onto Rembielińska. He left the viaduct onto a one-way road with a D-3 sign, and then, at the intersection of equal roads, he turned left from the left edge of the roadway. At the height of the Volvo showroom, he turned left again, giving way to vehicles coming straight from the opposite direction or turning right. There was a STOP sign (B-20) and a right turn order, so he stopped and gave way to vehicles from the left. He crossed the intersection with Łabiszyńska, and then from the left lane he turned onto Krasnobrodzka, giving way to pedestrians and cyclists. There, he braked to a stop in a designated place, i.e. in front of a lamppost. He was driving straight ahead, so at the intersection with Chodecka there was a priority road with a D-1 sign with a T-6 sign (road with priority when turning right, from the opposite direction give way), so he gave way to vehicles coming from the right. Here he parked and turned around using reverse gear. And so he returned to the intersection, where he turned left onto Chodecka, having a yield sign with a T-6 sign (from the opposite direction and from the left have priority, and we have to give way), so he gave way to vehicles coming from the opposite direction and from the left.
  • Although the light was red at the intersection, the green arrow lit up, which he stopped in front of, and then — because there were no pedestrians — he turned right onto Łojewska. Taking up the left lane, he turned left at the traffic light, onto Łabiszyńska, giving way to pedestrians.
  • He turned around at the intersection with traffic lights (S-1, Kondratowicza), giving way to vehicles coming from the opposite direction and then to a bus that joined the traffic from the stop.
  • Then he took the middle lane to go straight or left and turned left at the traffic lights under the viaduct at the Moraczewski roundabout. He sped along the expressway, paying attention to the speed limit. Finally he left it and reached Odlewnicza, where he gave way to cyclists and turned right to WORD.

A driving school from Warsaw answers the question: What was Wojtek’s exam route like from WORD in Bemowo?

  • The student, driving on Powstańców Śląskich, reached the yield sign, gave way to pedestrians and cyclists, as well as other vehicles driving with priority and, keeping to his lane, turned left onto Piastów Śląskich. Then he took the middle lane to turn left and at the traffic lights entered Powstańców Śląskich.
  • Then he took the right lane to turn right and exited onto Maczka on green, giving way to pedestrians. Then he took the right lane to turn right again and exited onto Powązkowska on green, giving way to pedestrians.
  • At the intersection with the Defenders of Tobruk there was a sign saying a priority road with a plate (priority from his side and right, and yield to the opposite side), he was driving straight ahead, so he gave way to vehicles from the right, because he was in an equal situation with them on the priority road. A bit further on he braked to a stop in a designated place, i.e. at a lamppost and at the right edge of the roadway. After checking in his mirrors and over his shoulder and giving way to other vehicles, he moved on. A moment later he drove into a gate, where he turned around using reverse gear. Then he turned right and, giving way, drove into Maczek.
  • He moved into the left lane to turn left, then turned around at the roundabout with traffic lights. Making the second turn, he watched for vehicles turning from the adjacent lane, then moved into the right lane to go straight ahead of Maczek. Then he moved into the right lane to turn right, where he drove into Rudnickiego at the lights, giving way to cyclists and pedestrians.
  • Then he took the right lane to go straight ahead and drove through the roundabout. He took the left lane to turn left, onto Broniewskiego, at the traffic lights, giving way to vehicles going straight ahead from the opposite direction and turning right, as well as pedestrians. Then at the traffic lights he turned right, onto Jarzębskiego, giving way to pedestrians and cyclists.
  • He turned right onto Staffa to practice perpendicular parking. He drove straight through the parallel intersection and entered a one-way street, then turned left from the left edge of the road onto Lisowska. Then he drove through another parallel intersection, driving straight through the intersection with the yield sign onto Żeromskiego, also driving straight through it.
  • Another equal on Schoroegera, he drove straight onto a one-way street. He reached the intersection with a yield, and then with a STOP sign (he stopped in front of a solid line) and turned left onto Kasprowicza.
  • Then, at the intersection with traffic lights, he turned left onto Aleje Zjednoczenia. Finally, he reached the intersection with the side green arrow (S-2), where, after giving way to pedestrians and cyclists, he turned right onto Broniewskiego, where he soon took the middle lane to turn left onto Reymonta, at the traffic lights.
  • Overcoming subsequent intersections, he drove straight to the WORD, finally turned at the traffic lights into Piastów Śląskich and after giving way to a bus that was joining the traffic from the stop, he turned right again into Powstańców Śląskich, and from there he reached the WORD.

A driving school from Warsaw answers the question: Is it worth taking an exam at WORD outside the capital?

As Wojtek’s story shows, there is no such need. The boy chose a good OSK in the capital and thanks to this he not only prepared himself to drive on Polish roads, but also passed the category B exam. So it was enough to change the center to the „Lauto” driving school from Warsaw, so that the issue of choosing WORD became just a formality…

What are the most difficult questions for a category B driving license? A driving school from Warsaw explains what mistakes students make during the theoretical exam in WORD

When Sylvia chose the best driving school in Warsaw, she was sure that the B category exam was just a formality. The girl not only had a keen head for learning, but also felt like a fish in water behind the wheel.

That’s why she was sure that with the help of this driving school she would pass everything in a flash. So when on the day of the exam at WORD the school principal received a call from Sylvia and heard: „You may not believe me, but I failed the theory”, the phone fell out of his hands…

Why did Sylvia fail the theory? More on that in a moment. First, let’s answer the most difficult questions that may appear on the WORD exam.

  1. When approaching a “STOP” sign (B-20), do we have to stop every time to give way?
  • YES or NO?
  • Some students believe that a red sign with a white “STOP” sign is an impassable barrier.
  • Meanwhile, stopping should take place in a designated place, and if there is no such place, then you should stand in a place from where you can assess the situation on the road.
  1. Do we have to give way to a rail vehicle leaving the loop?
  • YES or NO?
  • Some students mistakenly believe that the tram is a privileged vehicle that has unconditional right of way.
  • Meanwhile, a rail vehicle leaving the loop onto the roadway is joining the traffic, so the tram driver should give way to us.
  1. Are we allowed to use rear fog lights if fog restricts visibility by 100 meters?
  • YES or NO?
  • Some students of the Warsaw driving school fall asleep during lectures…
  • Meanwhile, during lectures we say that the driver can use rear fog lights, but only if the reduced air transparency limits visibility to a distance of less than 50 m.
  1. When we see the D-3 sign, are we obliged to drive straight at the next intersection?
  • YES or NO?
  • Some students think that a blue square with a white arrow pointing up means they should go straight.
  • Meanwhile, the D-3 sign informs about the beginning or continuation of a one-way road or carriageway and is often confused with the order to drive straight ahead, i.e. the C-5 sign (a blue circle with a white arrow pointing up).
  1. Is there a ban on overtaking at every pedestrian crossing?
  • YES or NO?
  • Some students believe that you should never overtake on a pedestrian crossing.
  • Meanwhile, an exception to this rule is the situation when traffic at the crossing is directed by traffic lights.
  1. Where on the dipstick should the trace of engine oil be for the measurement to be considered incorrect?
  • Above the “MAX” mark, between the “MIN” and “MAX” marks, or slightly above the “MIN” mark?
  • Some students misread this question, answering as it should be…
  • Meanwhile, the question is about the incorrect level when the trace is outside the correct level.
  1. Is it possible to reverse on a road marked with the D-3 sign (one-way road)?
  • YES or NO?
  • Some students think that they cannot reverse on a road marked with a blue square with a white arrow pointing upwards because it is a one-way street.
  • Meanwhile, road traffic regulations do not prohibit reversing on a road marked with this sign, unless it is in places covered by the reversing ban, e.g. in a tunnel, on a viaduct or bridge.
  1. Can you stop a vehicle under a viaduct if there are no signs prohibiting it?
  • YES or NO?
  • Some driving school students from Warsaw believe that the code prohibits this because it is a sensitive place.
  • Meanwhile, road traffic regulations prohibit stopping a vehicle on a viaduct, but not under it.
  1. Does the A-3 vertical sign warn of two dangerous bends, the first of which is to the right and the second to the left?
  • YES or NO?
  • Some students believe that this is indeed the case, because this sign has a black arrow on a yellow background that first turns right and then left.
  • Meanwhile, the A-3 sign actually warns of two dangerous bends, the first of which is to the right and the second can be both left and right.
  1. Should you always exercise extra caution when taking evasive action?
  • YES or NO?
  • Some students may confuse passing with overtaking, during which special care must actually be taken.
  • In the meantime, you just need to be careful when passing someone.
  1. Do we need to exercise constant caution when driving from dusk till dawn?
  • YES or NO?
  • For some students, due to the more difficult driving conditions, this seems obvious.
  • Meanwhile, road traffic regulations do not oblige us to exercise special caution at night.
  1. In which phase of heavy rain is the asphalt roadway the most slippery?
  • In the beginning, middle or end?
  • Some learners believe that at the end of heavy rainfall, the greatest accumulation of water occurs, and therefore driving becomes the least safe.
  • Meanwhile, at the very beginning of rainfall, the risk of skidding is greatest because the water carries away contaminants accumulated on the roadway or in its vicinity.
  1. Is overtaking a cyclist always prohibited at every intersection?
  • YES or NO?
  • Some driving school students from Warsaw claim that the regulations prohibit this.
  • Meanwhile, they only say that it is forbidden to overtake a motor vehicle (except at roundabouts or controlled traffic intersections), and a bicycle does not belong to this category…

Summary: the driving school lists 13 mistakes that students from Warsaw make during the exam

How incorrectly do students answer the questions from the above test?

  • The first is that… when you reach a “STOP” sign, you should always stop in front of it (correct answer: NO).
  • Secondly, that… you have to give way to a tram leaving the loop (correct answer: NO).
  • Thirdly, that… we have the right to use rear fog lights when fog limits visibility to a distance of 100 meters (correct answer: NO).
  • Fourthly, that… when we see the D-3 sign, we are obliged to go straight at the next intersection (correct answer: NO).
  • Fifth, that… overtaking is prohibited at every pedestrian crossing (correct answer: NO).
  • Sixth, that… the correct oil mark on the dipstick should be between “MIN” and “MAX” (correct answer: above the “MAX” mark).
  • Seventh, that… you cannot reverse on a one-way street (correct answer: YES).
  • Eighth, that… you cannot stop a car under an overpass unless the signs prohibit it (correct answer: YES).
  • Ninth, that… sign A-3 warns of two dangerous bends, the first of which is to the right and the second to the left (correct answer: NO).
  • The tenth thing is that… you should always exercise extreme caution when taking evasive action (correct answer: NO).
  • The eleventh is that… when driving at night, you should always exercise special caution (correct answer: NO).
  • Twelfth, that… in the final phase of heavy rain the asphalt is the most slippery (correct answer: in the initial phase).
  • The thirteenth is that… overtaking a cyclist at intersections is prohibited (correct answer: NO).

Driving school from Warsaw explains why Sylvia failed her theory test on her first attempt

Why did Sylvia stumble in theory? Well, she was ruined by rushing and being too self-confident. The student didn’t read the questions to the end, didn’t watch the videos in their entirety, acted in a rush, intuitively…

Fortunately, with the help of the head of the Warsaw driving school „Lauto” , she gained more respect for the exams, thanks to which she passed the theory on the second attempt and the practice on the first attempt.

How are the exams conducted in WORD? The Lauto driving school from Warsaw explains how to pass the theory and practice step by step

From time to time, it happens that the head of a driving school in Warsaw trains the children of his neighbors. This was the case with Łukasz and Monika. Although they came from different families, they had many similarities: similar predispositions to driving, motivation to get a license and soon they were going to graduate from high school.

Łukasz started in January. By the time he was on vacation, he had already completed 20 hours of the course out of the 30 required. Monika, on the other hand, started at the end of September. Of course, instead of doing the course during the vacation, they left it for later, because they had a lot of obligations due to final exams.

Łukasz’s parents were very thrifty. First they negotiated discounts on the course, then on driving. They arranged everything in advance. They do this in every aspect of life, because price is the most important thing to them. If there is a chance to complain about something, they are the first. It is hard to recommend any services to them, because there will be problems.

Monika’s parents were the exact opposite. They bought the course and only just before the party reminded the school principal that their daughter was on a course with him.

Łukasz did the course for 12 months. No rides during the holidays. Monika was struggling to find the time and wanted to finish as soon as possible, but it was hard because of the number of additional classes. Despite the rush of classes, she managed to finish the course in about 2 months.

Despite these twin similarities, one of them passed almost immediately, while the other bounced from exam to exam. Which of them did better? More on that in a moment. First, let’s answer the question: „How do exams work in WORD?”…

Driving school „Lauto” from Warsaw explains what the theoretical exam in WORD consists of

The theoretical examination includes a basic and specialized part.

What does the basic part include?

  • 20 general knowledge questions.
  • We answer: „YES” or „NO”.
  • There is a separate time for reading the question and answering.

What does the specialist section include?

  • 12 questions about road traffic regulations and safety rules.
  • We select 1 answer out of 3.
  • You have 50 seconds to read and respond.

What is the scope of knowledge?

  • Road traffic regulations.
  • Principles of first aid.
  • Road safety.

What is worth remembering?

  • Only one answer to a given question is correct.
  • You cannot go back to previous questions once you have approved them.
  • Please arrive well in advance as you will need to find a suitable examination room.
  • Please bring your ID document.
  • The theory exam can also be taken before the course.
  • Once you have completed the exam, you will be informed of your results.
  • Once you pass the theory, you can move on to the practical part: start a practical course or sign up for the practical exam.
  • If you fail, you can sign up for another date.

Driving school „Lauto” from Warsaw explains how the theoretical exam is conducted

What are the stages of the theory exam?

  • Verifying the identity of the person taking the exam and indicating the computer station.
  • Familiarization with the operation of the examination system.
  • You may answer a practice question that does not affect your exam result.
  • Answering 32 exam questions in 25 minutes.
  • Once you have completed the exam, your results will appear on your screen.
  • People who get a negative result can check their incorrect answers.

The Lauto driving school from Warsaw explains what activities should be performed on the maneuvering site

How does the practical exam on the maneuvering site proceed?

  • We arrive at the maneuvering site 5 minutes early.
  • We take with us our ID card and confirmation of registration for the exam.
  • The examiner checks our identity and confirms that we are registered for the exam.
  • The examiner may ask you to check basic vehicle components such as the operation of the lights and horn, as well as fluids under the hood.
  • Before you start driving, you must adjust the mirrors, seat, steering wheel, headrest and fasten your seat belt.
  • The following tasks are performed at the maneuvering site: vehicle operation (lights), preparation for driving (mirrors), driving on a curve, i.e. driving in a lane forwards and backwards.
  • We use mirrors and — absolutely! — the rear window.
  • If the weather is bad or the exam is after dark, turn on your low beam headlights.
  • We are entitled to a second attempt if we stop before crossing the line or hitting the post.
  • We set off up the hill: we are entitled to a second attempt if the car stalls or rolls back.
  • The practical exam for category B lasts approximately 40 minutes.

Driving school „Lauto” from Warsaw explains what tasks will be performed in road traffic

What does the practical city exam include?

  • We are required to make: 1 or 2 parking stops and 1 U-turn using reverse gear.
  • We can have: an emergency stop (the examiner must inform us before the exam what signal he will give us) and a stop in a designated place (a typical stop to drop off a passenger – it is worth using your indicators).
  • The rest is driving in city traffic: turning, turning, watching your speed and following the maxim „Make haste slowly”.
  • It is worth making decisions slowly at intersections with signs when we do not have the right of way.
  • Traffic lights require more dynamics, unless we have limited visibility, e.g. left turn.
  • We read signs, watch out for solid lines and equivalent intersections.
  • During the exam, there is an examiner and a candidate driver in the car, and there may also be an instructor, a sworn translator, a candidate examiner (observer) or an inspector from the starosty.

The Lauto driving school from Warsaw summarizes how the WORD exams are conducted

Let’s go back to the story in the first paragraph…

How did Łukasz’s exams go? Although Łukasz had purchased a few extra hours before his first attempt at the practical exam, when his father found out, he immediately stopped this “waste of money.”

The OSK chief was even happy, because he was driving with Łukasz basically for the price of fuel and taxes, with no chance of earning any money, thanks to the boy’s father driving down the price of the trip…

The boy failed the first exam on a curve. The OSK chief provided him with a car for the second one. It was quite a good exam, but unfortunately Łukasz failed it when returning to WORD at the penultimate intersection.

The third attempt was in a month. The school principal was supposed to provide a car again and reminded Łukasz several times to give him the exam date in advance, so he could reserve a car for him. The boy gave it to him only a few days before the exam, when it was already too late…

Unfortunately, this time he didn’t succeed. Namely, he forced the right of way when turning left. Undeterred, he booked a fourth date in 3 days. And again he rushed the turn, forcing the right of way.

He scheduled his fifth exam in two weeks. He should have bought a few hours, but he didn’t: saving money was more important. And that was a serious mistake that resulted in another failure in WORD. But the head of the center preferred not to say anything, so as not to be accused of ripping off the boy’s father with an additional expense.

How did Monika’s exams go? Well, she passed on her second attempt. She took a total of 2 extra lessons before the exams. The first time she made a strange mistake on a one-way street. She passed the next exam almost on the fly…

Why, although they were as similar as two peas in a pod, Monika did it almost without stress, while Łukasz experienced pure horror? The answer lies in their family homes. Monika’s parents simply supported her, without unnecessary stress. Łukasz’s parents, on the other hand, put pressure on him to score, which only increased his stress. And of course, they skimped on the course, almost letting the head of the center go.

All Łukasz had to do was let go and trust the head of the driving school „Lauto” from Warsaw , who would advise him to buy additional hours on the road, and then the exam in WORD would go as smoothly as in Monika’s case…

Traditional lectures vs. online theory – what to choose?

Traditional driving school lectures .

Traditional lectures are held in a lecture hall at a driving school. Participants meet with an instructor who discusses driving theory.

Pros:

  • Direct contact with the instructor: Ability to ask questions and receive answers in real time.
  • Group atmosphere: Learning together and sharing experiences with other students.
  • Traditional way of learning: For some people, more comfortable and easier to learn.

Cons:

  • Rigid schedule: You must adjust your time to the set lecture times.
  • Lack of flexibility: Material cannot be repeated at any time.
  • Less availability: Lectures are held at specific dates and locations.

Driving theory online

Online theory is a form of learning that allows you to familiarize yourself with theoretical material anywhere, anytime. Access to an educational platform with video lessons, tests, and downloadable materials.

Manual or automatic? Driving school „Lauto” from Warsaw explains how to do a category B course

When Zbyszek decided to take a category B course, he was looking for a driving school in Warsaw that offers both automatic and manual. At that time, he didn’t know which would be better for him.

As a car enthusiast, he was well aware of the differences between them. He knew that the main difference between them was that in the case of manuals, the gears were changed manually – you pressed the clutch pedal with your foot and then the gear shift.

With an automatic, however, everything happens more easily, without the need to operate your hand and foot. So the automatic does not require the driver’s direct involvement. The electronic control system simply decides to change gears without the driver’s involvement and the car always moves forward, so no hill or driveway will be scary.

Despite knowing these differences, Zbyszek still didn’t know what decision to make. So he decided to meet with his uncle, who had had a driving license for twenty-five years, and ask him for advice on what choice to make. The experienced driver took the time to listen to him, and then gave him expert advice.

Manual or automatic: which is the better choice according to an experienced driver? More on that in a moment. First, let’s answer the following question: what are the advantages and disadvantages of cars with manual and automatic transmissions?

What are the advantages of a manual course? A driving school from Warsaw shows when it is worth choosing a manual gearbox

What are the advantages of the course, exam and driving manual?

  • Lower service costs compared to cars with automatic transmission.
  • A driving license obtained for a car with a manual transmission is more universal as it allows you to drive both manual and automatic transmissions.
  • Better driving control thanks to the manual gearbox, which allows you to adjust the engine performance to road conditions.
  • Ease of reselling a car with manual transmission, as most drivers in Poland still drive cars with manual transmission.
  • Manuals are cheaper than their automatic counterparts, both new and used.
  • Most cars in Poland are manual, so when looking for a job behind the wheel, it is better to have a driving license with a manual gearbox.

What are the disadvantages of a manual course? A driving school from Warsaw explains the disadvantages of a manual gearbox

What are the disadvantages of the course, exam and driving on manual?

  • Manual transmission offers less driving comfort than an automatic, especially in city traffic jams where you have to start, stop and constantly change gears yourself.
  • During the course, mastering a manual gearbox involves more stress and the need to concentrate on these activities rather than on road conditions.
  • Driving a manual car is less smooth and more complex, requiring more concentration.
  • It is more difficult to learn to drive and pass the WORD exam with a manual.

What are the benefits of an automatic course? A driving school from Warsaw explains when it is worth choosing an automatic transmission

What are the advantages of the course, exam and driving a car?

  • Smoother acceleration and braking, which may prove helpful not only during the exam, but also in everyday use of the car.
  • Smoother starting, which is helpful when driving uphill or in city traffic jams.
  • Greater driving comfort as you don’t have to constantly change gears or operate the clutch, making driving easier, especially for a novice.
  • Nowadays, automatic cars burn less fuel than their manual counterparts.
  • There is no risk of the vehicle stalling when moving off or starting on a slope, which seems to be particularly important during the WORD exam.
  • The cost of repairing an automatic transmission is only slightly higher than a manual one, and more and more garages are able to handle these repairs without any problems.
  • It seems that the future of the automotive industry belongs to automatic transmissions, as more of them are sold in the new car segment, and leading brands sometimes only offer automatic transmissions in their latest models.
  • All electric, hydrogen and hybrid cars are available only in automatic versions.
  • If you complete an automatic driving course and obtain code 78, which requires you to drive only automatic driving, you can still extend your qualifications without having to complete a manual driving course at OSK, you only need to pass the practical exam at WORD in a manual driving test.
  • Automatic driving schools often have additional safety systems (such as parking sensors, reversing cameras, sign recognition or automatic handbrake) that the student may, but does not have to, use during the course or exam.

What are the disadvantages of an automatic course? A driving school from Warsaw suggests what disadvantages an automatic gearbox brings

What are the disadvantages of the course, exam and driving a car?

  • If you pass the test in an automatic, you get a driving licence with code 78, which means you can only drive a car with an automatic gearbox.
  • As a rule, cars with automatic transmission are more expensive to maintain and repair than cars with manual transmission, although it must be admitted that the difference is not as significant as it used to be.
  • It may be difficult to resell such a car, as more drivers in Poland still drive manual cars.
  • Automatics, both new and used, are usually more expensive than their manual counterparts.
  • Due to the fact that most WORDs do not offer automatic machines, the student is forced to take the exam in an OSK car.

Summary: Manual or Automatic? Warsaw Driving School Explains Which Gearbox Is a Better Choice

As usual, it is difficult to give a clear answer to such a question. It is worth looking at this issue from your own perspective. Nevertheless, we can answer what advice an experienced driver gave Zbyszek.

When Zbyszek visited his uncle and asked him whether to choose a manual or automatic course, his uncle first asked him a series of questions. They concerned such issues as: hobbies, free time, professional work, studies and contacts with friends. At first, Zbyszek thought that his uncle was just nosy.

However, the boy soon blushed with shame, because he felt stupid for accusing his uncle of it. The uncle simply wanted to know his current situation and what his life would be like after he passed his driving test. After he had obtained this information, he expressed his opinion regarding the choice of course:

I think that in your case it would be best to get your driving license in manual mode because:

  • firstly, you want to buy a used car from friends and maybe you’ll find a gem in good condition and with low mileage, and most of your friends drive manual cars;
  • secondly, you are planning to work as a driver, so you don’t know whether you will come across a company that only has cars with manual transmissions;
  • thirdly, as a professional driver, you will avoid alcohol, which your friends with whom you go out on the town will take advantage of, and you will become their chauffeur;
  • Fourthly, once you master driving a manual transmission, you will be able to quickly adapt to an automatic transmission when the need arises, as it is easier to use.

As you can see – the experienced driver continued – the best choice in your case will be a course at the OSK and an exam at WORD in manual, and a driving school: „Lauto” from Warsaw link: https://lauto.pl/, where the instructors there performed a miracle, because they taught your cousin how to drive, who confused the gas with the brake, and the first gear with the reverse gear…”
