Traditional lectures vs. online theory – what to choose?

Traditional driving school lectures .

Traditional lectures are held in a lecture hall at a driving school. Participants meet with an instructor who discusses driving theory.

Pros:

  • Direct contact with the instructor: Ability to ask questions and receive answers in real time.
  • Group atmosphere: Learning together and sharing experiences with other students.
  • Traditional way of learning: For some people, more comfortable and easier to learn.

Cons:

  • Rigid schedule: You must adjust your time to the set lecture times.
  • Lack of flexibility: Material cannot be repeated at any time.
  • Less availability: Lectures are held at specific dates and locations.

Driving theory online

Online theory is a form of learning that allows you to familiarize yourself with theoretical material anywhere, anytime. Access to an educational platform with video lessons, tests, and downloadable materials.

Pros:

  • Flexibility: Ability to study at any time and anywhere with internet access.
  • Revisions: The ability to repeat the material multiple times and consolidate knowledge.
  • Availability: Materials available 24/7.

Cons:

  • Lack of direct contact with the instructor: No possibility to ask questions on the fly.
  • Less motivation: It is harder to stay focused when studying on your own.
  • Technical issues: Internet access and a working device are required.

Which form is for you?

The choice between traditional lectures and online theory depends on your individual preferences and possibilities. If you value direct contact with an instructor and a group atmosphere, traditional lectures will be a better option for you. On the other hand, if you prefer flexibility and self-paced learning, online theory may be more suitable.

Remember that in both cases it is important that you spend enough time studying and practicing to be well prepared for your driving test.

Which car should I use to take my category B driving test at WORD: the WORD car or the car of a driving school in Warsaw.

One sunny day, Kryspin, a doctor of law, crossed the threshold of a driving school in Warsaw. He was another dream student for the OSK from the capital: educated, intelligent, knowing what he wanted from life. In the end, it turned out that his adventure with a driving license lasted 3 years…

First he took a course, and after a year refresher lessons, and then he took the exams, which he initially took in WORD cars. On his first attempt at the WORD exam, his car stalled on a bend, and on the second attempt it stalled again.

Although it was already swept, the examiner allowed him to do the hill, which is more difficult to pass than the curve. He approached this maneuver in a relaxed way, because the exam stress that paralyzed him was gone. It should come as no surprise that he conquered the hill without the slightest problem…

Kryspin understood that stress was eating him up. He came to the conclusion that he needed support in the WORD exam. That is why he asked the head of OSK for help. The next exam took place with his participation.

What was the effect? And did Kryspin decide to take the exam in the school car? More on that in a moment. First, let’s answer the question: „Which car should I use to take the exam for category B in WORD?”

Which car should I use to take a category B course at a driving school in Warsaw?

In order to answer the above question, we will use an example from our OSK. Namely, on the course we use a model identical to the one in Warsaw’s WORD, i.e. Hyundai I20 (1.2 petrol).

In addition, we train in a car with an automatic transmission, namely the Toyota CHR. This is a model equipped with front and rear parking sensors, a reversing camera, a blind spot detection sensor, and even an automatic parking brake.

So which car should I use to take a category B course in Warsaw?

  • If we plan to take the exam in a WORD car, it is worth choosing the same model at OSK as the one in WORD.
  • If we intend to take the exam in an OSK car, the school will provide us with the same car at WORD in which we will take the course with them.
  • If we do not yet know which car we will take the exam in, let’s choose the one on the course that the school will be able to provide us with and which at the same time corresponds to the one in WORD.

Which car is used to take the category B driving test in Warsaw?

As we mentioned earlier, the Provincial Road Traffic Centre has second-generation Hyundai I20 cars with a 5-speed manual gearbox. This year, the cars in the WORD should be replaced. There is talk behind the scenes that they will be replaced by a third-generation Hyundai, i.e. a car very similar to the current one, with an identical engine and also with a manual gearbox.

In our school we have vehicles identical to those in the exam, which have passed verification and met official requirements. That is why we are able to provide them to the student in WORD.

What requirements must a car provided by OSK for the exam meet?

  • It is equipped with cameras required by WORD.
  • The operation of these cameras has been verified by WORD.
  • It is checked for lighting, equipment and documents before each exam.
  • If a machine is provided, it does not need to have additional cameras because the examiner uses his own camera.

What are the advantages of taking the exam in a WORD car?

What will a student gain by taking an exam in a car from WORD?

  • WORD cars usually have lower mileage than school cars.
  • The student does not incur any additional costs associated with renting a vehicle from OSK.
  • The student gains greater flexibility because he or she does not have to additionally book a date for renting an elka from OSK.

What are the disadvantages of taking the exam in a WORD car?

What are the disadvantages of taking the driving test in a WORD car?

  • The student must independently change the seat, mirror and steering wheel settings before setting off, adapting them to their natural conditions.
  • You have to take into account that the clutch and brakes behave differently than in the OSK electric bike.
  • You have to learn all over again about the car, which has its own individual features and a different level of wear than an Elka from OSK.

What are the advantages of taking the exam in a driving school car from Warsaw?

What will a student gain by taking the learning car exam with OSK?

  • Just before the exam, the student will „warm up” behind the wheel of an electric car, on which he or she will take the exam at WORD.
  • All parameters of the seat, mirrors and steering wheel settings will be adjusted to the student.
  • The trainee will have a feel for the clutch, main and emergency brake.

What are the disadvantages of taking the exam with a driving school from Warsaw?

What are the disadvantages of taking the ELKA exam with OSK?

  • The student will incur a higher cost of the exam, which will increase by approximately PLN 200-300.
  • The student must book a date with their OSK, which may be difficult due to conflicts with other lessons (the instructor must have a free date in their schedule).

Can you take the exam at WORD in your own private car?

Unfortunately, there is currently no such possibility. We take the exam in an OSK car, where we did the B category course. This vehicle must be owned by a driving school. As we know, Poles can do it, so theoretically there is a possibility to bypass the system. Namely, you just need to rent your car to a driving school. However, there is a „but” here, and it is a significant one. The point is that such a car must be equipped with additional pedals and mirrors. It must also be inspected for driving lessons. The total cost is at least PLN 2,000, if not more. As you can easily guess, it is difficult to sell such a car later…

So what formalities must a student complete to pass the OSK by car? All the student has to do is go to the WORD website , where there is a special form link: https://www.word.waw.pl/egzaminy/egzamin-na-prawo-jazdy/egzamin-pojazdem-osk. One side of it is for the OSK, and the other for the student. If the student is a student of a given school, all they have to do is fill out this form and accept the regulations…

Summary: which car to take the category B exam in: a WORD car or a driving school from Warsaw?

Let’s go back to the story from the first paragraph. Kryspin asked for help from the head of the OSK, who — as a „mute witness” — joined the exam. As if by magic, two attempts on the curve turned out to be successful. Although the car didn’t stall, Kryspin still failed.

On the first attempt he didn’t turn on his dipped headlights, and it was raining, so he should have. On the second attempt he didn’t watch the trajectory in the rear window. The examiner allowed him to go over the hill, which, as usual, went without a problem.

Then the OSK chief suggested that Kryspin should take the next three attempts – if they were to happen – in an OSK car with manual transmission. The student agreed to this. Thanks to this, he finally left the square, but he failed in the city, because at the first intersection he forced the right of way when changing lanes. He explained that he did not know that he should have given way. He was simply lost in his rush, because he wanted to do it as quickly as possible.

To everyone’s great surprise, including Kryspin, another OSK car exam ended successfully. Kryspin was more shocked than the OSK boss. The young driver additionally bought automatic driving lessons at his driving school „Lauto” from Warsaw , which turned out to be great fun for him and an impulse to buy this type of car…

WARSAW DRIVING SCHOOL
Why do students fail their WORD exams? The Lauto driving school from Warsaw lists 7 „sins” that are the reason for this

Aleksandra was the dream student of the Warsaw driving school. Not only was she very intelligent, she also had a Ph.D. from her university. She learned quickly and easily, so the theory exam seemed like a formality.

So when she took the exam at WORD, the head of OSK was certain that she would pass it without the slightest problem. Unfortunately, she failed. Likewise the second, third, fourth and fifth… The head of the school was scratching his head and trying to understand what was happening. As a rule, educated students had a problem passing the practical exam, not the theory exam…

Finally, the OSK chief asked about the reason. Ola couldn’t answer what the problem was, because she was as surprised as he was. “Did you check the wrong answers?” the OSK chief asked, to which the trainee replied, “No way!” “So if you stumble again, please check them.”

On what attempt did Aleksandra manage to pass the theory? And what was the reason for her failures? More on that in a moment. First, let’s answer the question: „Why don’t students pass WORD exams?”

What mistake do students make when choosing a driving school? A driving school from Warsaw shows how to choose a great driving school

The first „sin” of potential students is being guided by online reviews and the low price of the training. Why is this a bad approach to the subject? First, because online reviews are not as reliable as you might think. Many of them were bought and written by copywriters who do this professionally, not by students who have used the services of a given school.

Secondly, a low price for a course can be a sign of low quality training… It is not the case that one course is equal to another, and that instructors are equal to instructors . Training and staff are at different levels, and high quality services require a correspondingly high price.

How to choose a good driving school in Warsaw?

  • Don’t rely solely on online reviews and the price of the course.
  • Let’s get information from family and friends who have completed a course at a given OSK.
  • Let’s ask them how the training went, how they managed to pass the exam and whether they learned how to drive safely on Polish roads.
  • If we get positive answers to these questions, then let’s not hesitate to spend a few hundred zlotys more for the course: after all, our lives depend on the quality of the course…

What mistake do students make during theory lessons? A driving school from Warsaw suggests how to master theory

The second „sin” of course participants is that they learn to pass exams right away, whereas they should start with lectures and then do tests from individual sections. The lack of systematic knowledge affects practical classes and the practical exam – as much as 70% of success in WORD results from knowledge of traffic regulations and rules. Without this knowledge, there is no question of safe driving…

How to understand the theory?

  • First of all, you need to know yourself, your natural conditions: do you absorb information better by watching, listening, or maybe reading?
  • Secondly, you need to choose a type of course that is adapted to your natural conditions.
  • Thirdly, you should not be afraid to ask questions during lectures, and if necessary, you should take advantage of the free additional theoretical classes offered by the center.

What Mistake Do Students Make During Practical Lessons? Warsaw Driving School Explains Why a Good Instructor Is So Important

The third „sin” of students is the bad fit of the instructor. There should be so-called chemistry between the instructor and the student. If we do not feel comfortable with our teacher, then let’s change the instructor or even the school.

How to recognize a good instructor?

  • Has knowledge of the regulations and construction of the car.
  • Can explain in an accessible way how a clutch or brake works.
  • He knows perfectly well that we cannot learn to park by heart, but we have to learn to perform this maneuver intuitively, which is more difficult at the beginning of the course, but gives great results at the end and on the exam…

Why students can’t handle stress? A driving school from Warsaw advises how to tame stress during the WORD exam

The fourth „sin” of chimes is putting everything on one scale, which only causes more stress. In fact, the first exam is the most stressful, especially when we set the bar high. Therefore, let’s approach the WORD exam relaxed, fight until the end, but if we fail, so be it – the world does not end, and after the downpour there is a rainbow…

What will help tame stress during the WORD exam?

  • Firstly, the awareness that very few people pass the exam being 90% prepared, let alone 100%. We have to cope despite the constantly changing situation on the exam, which is something that cannot be fully prepared for on a course.
  • Secondly, the knowledge that sometimes a “bad” examiner is better than a “good” one. Paradoxically, an examiner who is quite indifferent to us, and sometimes even unpleasant, can make the exam with him quite simple, and his instructions and the exam route – easy. On the other hand, a nice examiner who does not stress with his behavior can turn out to be very demanding, and the exam with him breakneck…

What mistake do students make on the theory exam? A driving school from Warsaw explains how to pass the theory in WORD

The fifth „sin” of students is a lack of knowledge or rushing to answer the exam. Rushing causes us not to read the questions to the end, and they often have the same pictures, which makes it easy to make a mistake.

How to pass the theory in WORD?

  • Since we have access to all the exam questions, it is worth going through them from A to Z and back.
  • Always check your incorrect answers after an unsuccessful attempt.
  • The questions should be read to the end, without haste, which is a bad advisor.

What mistake do trainees make on the maneuvering field? A driving school from Warsaw shows how to pass a curve and a rise

The sixth „sin” of the trainees is the ignorance of the arc and elevation. Meanwhile, we have to practice these maneuvers excessively. This is the first contact with the car on the exam and a small mistake ends the whole fun.

How to complete the arc and the ascent?

  • Vehicle maintenance can be found on the Internet – it is worth studying the instructional videos.
  • It is important to remember that driving around a curve is not just about driving: we also check the air clarity and whether there is rain or fog, which require the use of dipped headlights.
  • When driving around a curve, we need to pay attention to many details, for example, we need to check the driving path in the rear window at least once.
  • Hill starting also has many methods, so it’s worth trying different options.

What mistake do students make during the city exam? Driving school explains how to pass the WORD practice

The seventh „sin” of students is not realizing that a successful exam begins… before the WORD exam. In fact, driving on the exam is the culmination of what came before.

So how do you pass your WORD internship?

  • It’s worth being rested and relaxed.
  • It is a good idea to arrange an extra hour of lessons in WORD just before the exam as a little warm-up.
  • No one drives completely flawlessly, but you can’t make too many mistakes, so you should only take the exam when you feel you have a good chance of passing.

What “sin” did Alexandra commit that caused her to fail theory multiple times?

Let’s go back to Aleksandra’s story from the first paragraph. The head of OSK advised her that next time – if she failed the test again – she should check the wrong answers. This is what she did when she failed the theory test for the sixth time.

And so, after re-reading the questions, she knew all the answers. As it turned out, she had spent so much time studying that during the exam, she didn’t read the questions to the end, but gave quick answers.

When she read the entire questions, she passed the seventh theory exam in a heartbeat. Paradoxically, thanks to the course she took at the Lauto driving school in Warsaw , she passed the WORD practice at the first attempt…
