Janek didn’t look for a driving school in Warsaw because he didn’t trust his driving skills and was determined to pass his category B driving test on his first try. What was the reason for this determination? His older sister, Małgosia, had passed hers on her first attempt, and he—as a male—couldn’t be worse.

Since he didn’t believe he could replicate his sister’s success in the capital, he decided to find a WORD somewhere in Poland. He scoured the internet for WORD pass rates from previous years and selected those centers with the highest first-time pass rates.

And so he found five WORD ranking lists from across Poland. Based on these, he selected the city that—in his opinion—offered the best chance of a great exam result. It’s worth noting that Janek wasn’t looking for rankings that measured the pass rate for the theory exam. He knew perfectly well that the same exam questions and procedures apply throughout Poland, so the theory exams are almost identical in every city.

There are significant discrepancies between the WORDs on the practical exam. These differences stem from urban planning, traffic congestion, examiner attitudes, and the vehicles used during the exam. Janek first selected the best cities for taking the WORD exam. Then, in those cities, he found driving schools offering category B training. Finally, he found an excellent offer from the local driving school.

It was a driving holiday. All you had to do was pass your theory exam in your hometown, then go on a two-week vacation to take a driving course. At the end of your stay in that town, you took the practical exam at the local driving school.

While this sounded unbelievable, it turned out to be the absolute truth. Without hesitation, Janek began self-studying the theory at home and took the exam at the Warsaw Driving School. After passing, he embarked on an unforgettable vacation with his license in the countryside.

Well, right after Janek returned from vacation with his license in his pocket, he bought his first car and soon hit the road. However, Warsaw proved more demanding than the town where he took his driving course and passed his driving test, so the boy panicked.

The speed, traffic jams, and road rage—all of this meant the young driver couldn’t continue. He pulled over to a bus stop and activated his hazard lights. He then called his sister to pick him up.

He was lucky that Małgosia had some free time. She showed up in less than an hour. She arrived by public bus, and as she sat behind the wheel, with Janek next to her in the passenger seat, she gave him a shout-out…

„Didn’t I tell you to get your license in Warsaw!? No, you had to show that you’re a real badass and that you’d pass on the first try, no matter what! Not only did you pay for the course and hotel stay in this town as much as you would have for a driving license at a driving school in the capital, but they also ripped you off on the hours because you drove less than the legal limit. Apparently, the local driving schools had an arrangement with their driving school, because you took your exam right after the accelerated training. And if that wasn’t enough, they didn’t teach you how to drive in our city. I knew it would end this way… I guess I deserve an apology, huh?”

He hesitated for a moment, but convenience won out over the desire for adventure with public transport.
